Collaboration with Convenience Store and Fast-Food Chain, Delivered Strategic Vision and Roadmap

CASE STUDY

I served as a UX analyst and business consultant to assist a regional convenience store and fast-food chain in enhancing their strategic direction, vision, and roadmap around their POS (point-of-sale) system.

My team and I used a human-centered approach to distill valuable insights and provide recommendations to revamp their POS system and improve employee and customer satisfaction.

  • My client, a regional convenience store and fast-food chain, was facing increased competition in a rapidly evolving market. In order to remain competitive and better meet the needs of their employees and customers, they recognized the need for a strategic transformation around their POS. They sought my team’s expertise to guide them in achieving this goal.

  • The client recognized the need to upgrade their POS system to keep pace with evolving industry trends and and consumer preferences. All changes to the POS system had to be approved by the POS vendor, so they became a bottleneck to my client’s innovation pipeline. My client was looking for recommendations and alternatives to their existing POS model.

  • My team’s approach was structured to ensure a holistic understanding of the client's challenges and objectives. It can be summarized in the following steps:

    1. Discovery and Research: We commenced with a thorough analysis of the client's existing processes, technology, and market positioning. This stage allowed us to pinpoint areas in need of transformation. User surveys were used to gather information from users.

    2. User Engagement: The user-focused workshops played a pivotal role in gathering invaluable insights from employees and customers, enabling us to provide recommendations that aligned closely with user expectations.

    3. Analysis and Recommendations: With a deep understanding of the client's business and user base, we conducted an in-depth evaluation of their POS system, the competitive landscape, and alternative POS vendors. From this analysis, we presented a set of strategic recommendations.

    4. Implementation Planning: We worked closely with the client to develop a roadmap for implementing the proposed changes, taking into account budget constraints and resource allocation.
